Smoking has negative effects on the body, and each smoker knows that. There are thousands who try and quit every day, but pointlessly. For one, the nicotine found in cigarettes keeps you dependent and makes giving up smoking a tricky process. How often have you tried to stop smoking but fail? We all know that we may be able to stop for good if we have got the willpower.
If you are looking for some ways to quit smoking, here goes :
1. Identify the cause of smoking. Do you smoke when you feel stressed? Do you need a cigarette after your meals? Identify the situation when you desire for a gasper and avoid it when the urge to smoke arises. If you’ve got the habit of smoking at certain places, avoid visiting them for the moment, especially drinking places.
2. Go cold turkey. This takes a lot of willpower as you’re going to stop your nicotine obsession straight away. Most of the people fail using this method because the urge to smoke is too great. Ways To Start Your Stop Smoking Program
If you really want to stop smoking, all you need to do is find a substitute to it. I know of folks who picked up caffeine instead, or nicotine gum as their own unique stop smoking program. These measures have been known to help rather well for a lot of Americans because they now have something else to occupy their minds and time with. It can help you too.
Hypnotism: I don’t know how it does it or how it works, but I have heard that you can be helped to stop some very nasty habits using hypnotism. So, if it can work for weight loss, why shouldn’t it be able to work for smoking? I’d try it at least to see how it will work, or not; after all, there’s no side effect.
I don’t think a doctor is the best person to help you with stopping smoking, seeing as so many of them know the hazards but they smoke also. I think the best way to quit is to find a person who has succeeded at it before. Their own stories and stop smoking program might inspire you.
There is no doubt that nicotine is extremely addictive. It’s not surprising either that there are a ton of social and non-profit movements against its use. So if your doctor tells you to stop and break your habit once and for all, it’s for the best that you heed his or her advice.
With yellow stains on the fingers and teeth, and having been trying for virtual ages to quit, you could still be having trouble. For added incentive, join a therapy group. Share your experiences and listen to them share theirs. And then exchange resolves, ask for their stop smoking program and get on with your life. This method has helped lots of chronic smokers to break free from the chains of smoking. It can work for you too if you but try it.
When I was trying to stop smoking, I tried the ice water trick, but it didn’t work. I even spoke with a shrink, and for a few weeks I thought I was free, but I was back to the smoking habit as soon as I had a rough time at work. But when my dad died, I don’t know what it was but I could not bring myself to continue smoking, especially when I knew he didn’t like my smoking habit. That really became a stop smoking program for me.
You cannot give up on an idea for quitting on smoking before you try it out. Even if the stop smoking program looks like it might not work for you, the least you can do is to confirm that suspicion to be true by trying. If nothing else, you will know one less way by which you may quit smoking. The more ways you try, the more likely you will find that one way that will work 100% to help you quit smoking.
Stopping from smoking can take as many years as you don’t want to consider, but you can’t let that faze you out from trying. Think only about the many more years of your life during which you may live healthy from the effects of the nicotine and other poisons introduced to your system by the narcotic if you stop it. That should be part of your stop smoking program mindset and it will boost you forward enough.

A really informative blog about E Cigarettes
Perhaps you have learned about it, most likely you have: one of the most spoken about modern gadgets this year: the E Cigarette. Millions of people have heard about this promising yet controversial accessory since it’s launch to the World Retail Markets in the beginning 2009. If you are a smoker, you know all too well the drawbacks: bad smell, ash, potentially cancer causing substances, lung wreck substances, stained teeth, awfull breath, no-smoking sections, social arguments, and so on..
The E Cigarette however, puts an end to most if not all of these problems. But what precisely is an E Cigarette? So, with the sophisticated devices available today, you get a device, that looks, feels and smells like the actual thing, on the other hand, there are no smoking restrictions for E Cigarettes. Why is that? Well they don’t give off smoke. What is being released is usually 99% Vaporized Water. The other constituents vary a by manufacturer, but mostly they hold Flavor, Nicotine and a smoke-like delivering ingredient, such as Propylene Glycol, which is also a food additive.
The E Cigarette works by dissipating the substances with a atomizer, which is powered by a rechargeable battery. Most models are made of 3 parts: the battery, the atomizer and the cartridge with the Nicotine inside, but some more refined, easy-to-use ones have the atomizer built in to the cartridge.
It’s not demonstrated that these gadgets are 100% safe, but it is very unlikely that they are more harmful to a persons health than a regular cigarette. In case you are looking for a place with more info on E Cigarettes, you might want to take a look at this page about E Cigarettes.
This website has a great deal of information about E Cigarettes and answers to many questions about E Cigarettes.

How Fast Does Nicotine Leave the Body?
One thing many people want to know before quitting smoking is how long the effects of nicotine will take to stop. This isn’t exactly a simple answer, because while nicotine leaves the body quickly, the mental effects of being a long time smoker take time to go away.
Nicotine itself has a half life of twenty to thirty minutes in the body. That means that all but the last traces of the drug will be gone within two to three days. Thing is, nicotine isn’t the major reason why you smoke.
So, what really makes cigarettes and tobacco so addictive? Your mental attachment to it. Your addiction is largely based on a learned association between various events during your day, or triggers. For example, a common trigger for many people is leaving work. It doesn’t matter how many (or few) cigarettes you’ve had that day, leaving work almost every smoker lights up.
This is because you’re so used to smoking when you leave. Over the years, it’s become a learned response to leaving work, to the point where if you don’t follow it, you feel weird. That feeling gets written up as nicotine withdrawal, which is why so many people say that nicotine withdrawal is awful.
In short, nicotine withdrawal only takes a few days, but the mental withdrawal from smoking is what people say is rough. Tackle that, and quitting smoking is easy. That’s why so many of the replacement therapy programs have trouble working: they treat the nicotine addiction, but don’t do anything about the fact that nicotine addiction isn’t what causes problems.

I Can’t Stop Smoking – What Can I Do?
If you have tried to stop smoking previously and failed you need to ask yourself “why did I fail?”. If you can identify the reasons you failed last time you can address these and work out a new plan of action where you will SUCCEED!
You should pick a date to actually stop, a little way off to give you time to prepare but not so far off that you lose interest. Then you should make a plan including the following:
- Mark the date on your calendar, in your diary and put a sticker on the ‘fridge.
- Tell friends and family about your Quit Day.
- Get rid of the ashtrays in your home, car, and workplace and maybe use some air freshener or even shampoo your carpets, particularly in the car.
- See your doctor for advice on what nicotine replacement therapy might be needed. Are you going to use nicotine patches, lozenges, sprays, chewing gum or even some prescribed medicines? He will help you decide on this depending on how long you have been smoking and how much you smoke.
- Set up a support system to get you through the difficult withdrawal period. You might be able to enlist the help of your partner or a friend who can spend time with you and participate with you in activities and interests to keep your mind engaged. You will not have time to think about cigarettes if you are busy. In addition, or alternatively, you may want to join a local support group or National Health Service stop smoking program.
- Practice saying, “No thanks, I don’t smoke.”
- Stock up on some oral substitutes or comforters such as sugar free gum, carrot sticks, hard candy, cinnamon sticks, straws or tooth picks.
- If your doctor has prescribed a medicine such as bupropion you should remember to start taking it as directed.
All these measures, once in place, will help you once the time to quit comes along
- On that day do not dwell on the situation but instead take on a purposeful manner and think about the day ahead Try a new routine, perhaps a different breakfast followed by a different route to work. This will put you in the right frame of mind to change your habits. Through that first day you might want to follow these suggestions :
- Do not smoke at all- not even one puff!
- Keep busy and active. Try to take some exercise during the day even if it’s just a short walk. Minimise your coffee breaks if you are at work, and don’t hang out with colleagues who smoke.
- Drink lots of water and juices through the day.
- Do what is necessary as regards your nicotine replacement therapy.
- Avoid places and situations where the urge to smoke can be strong.
- Try to avoid alcohol.
- Think about your favourite food for lunch and maybe even treat yourself to a nice lunch.
- Try to avoid the rationalisations which creep in when you feel you may be weakening. You know the sort of thing – I’ll just have one to get me through this rough patch, or, today is not such a good day, I’ll start tomorrow.
When you get to the evening and you haven’t smoked you can congratulate yourself on your achievement. You can now relax with some music, or a good book or TV film to occupy your mind and then go to bed knowing that you can stop smoking and that tomorrow should be even easier, no longer will you be saying “I can’t stop smoking”.

Smoking without the effects – You don’t have to give up
I’m sure most of the smokers have already thought about give up smoking. We have seen those disguasting (but useful!) commercials about smokers’lungs, we have heard so much about the negative effects of smoking, we feel it, we know it is so dangerous but we can’t give up. Why? Because it is part of our lives. I have heard many times that why I don’t stop smoking. Why? Because it is a nice feeling for me after having a nice dish, when I’m full of stress, when I’m drinking something etc. No! I don’t want anybody to start smoking, it was the worst decision in my life that I take this habbit but now I can’t live withouth it. I need it.
Of course, I tried many times and many methods to give it up but the side effects were so bad that I keep on smoking. I knew and felt I had to give it up! But how?
Then I found a new way of smoking. A kind of smoking which is not dangerous for me, a way which gives me the possibility to keep this bad habit on a “healthy way”.
After trying many things I tried the electronic cigarette and for the first time I felt that I found the right solution for my problem. I can smoke without serious side effects.
I don’t have to give up regular habbits and rituals which relate to smoking. I don’t feel myself badly for the cigarette. I know electronic cigarette is not dangerous and it isn’t harmful. There is no tar in it which can cause many deseases. I still smoke but on a new way. I always say “I’m a 21st century smoker”.
On top of that, I don’t harm the people around me.
So if you haven’t found the way to quit smoking you should give a try for the electric
